An article published today in Bloomberg, “Demand for Supply-Chain Data Stays Robust Amid Geopolitical, Climate Risks,” by reporter Bloomberg’s Brendan Murray features commentary from Bart Derde from Haleon during the aim10x Live London event - o9’s premier event series offering insights, best practices and inspiration for supply chain, procurement, revenue management, IT and sustainability leaders who are shaping the future of enterprise planning.
The article focuses on how, despite a slowing economy and a cooling off in global trade, companies are still seeking greater visibility into their business and supply chains to improve how they navigate uncertainties in a post-pandemic business environment.
In the article, o9’s de Barse expressed his point of view that demand for supply chain technologies hasn’t softened, as companies are still prioritizing investment in this key area of their business:
“Companies are actually all moving forward with their big transformation initiatives because they all remember Covid, Russia-Ukraine and now there’s all the geopolitical tension with Taiwan and China,” de Barse was quoted in the article. “Especially at the board level, this remains a super important topic and a super important investment.”
Haleon’s Derde spoke from the perspective of a company that is currently investing in AI to support the digitization of its supply chain:
“The opportunity to be best-in-class on agility and scenario planning in a world with Covid became pretty transparent that that transformation was needed and a digital transformation was needed,” Bart Derde, Haleon’s chief supply chain officer, said at the conference on Tuesday. “I’ve never been to a board for quite such a large amount of money and get it approved the first time around.”
