A Platform Built for Scale

Make A Difference (MAD) mentors children growing up in urban poverty across 23 Indian cities, but by 2023 its impact was constrained by fragmented data, manual processes, and limited visibility into city chapters and child needs.

The grant enabled MAD to build an organization-owned technology platform that streamlines volunteer management, reduces administrative work, and provides near real-time visibility into chapters and programme health.

  • <20% → 52%

Technology adoption across MAD, in a single year.

  • 4,634 → 10,831

    Children supported across 23 cities.

  • 1.8 → 10.9

Chapters seeded by each community organizer.

The Results

  • 2,500 volunteers got back an hour every week that had gone into spreadsheets
  • 73% of city chapters rated healthy, against a 60% target
  • Sessions and classes conducted rose from 3,552 to 4,727
  • The digital playbook reached 270+ organizers and fellows — 100% of the cohort
  • The cost of supporting a child fell by 28% over the same period, while the number of children more than doubled
