We have partnered with IPÊ - Institute for Ecological Research and we will be planting all the trees in their project Sowing Water in Brazil. The IPÊ will make take care of the saplings, plantation, and preservation of the forest.

The project Sowing Water aims to reverse the degradation of water bodies in the Cantareira System through changes in land use. Its main strategy is the restoration of forests in Permanent Preservation Areas and the promotion of conservation practices in the production chain, including the ecological management of pastures, silviculture using native Atlantic Forest trees, and agroforestry.

Although Brazil stands out for its abundant aquatic resources, water availability and demand vary by location. Southeastern Brazil, for example, intensively uses water for agriculture, industry, and human consumption and is vulnerable to periods of drought, which have become increasingly frequent and prolonged. These factors highlight the importance of effective management strategies to ensure the multiple uses of water in space and time. The project Sowing Water is focused on the Cantareira System, one of the largest water supply systems on the planet. This region, originally covered by the Atlantic Forest, is characterized by conditions that make conservation actions urgent, particularly in relation to improved management of production processes and the implementation of forest restoration.
The Cantareira System has the capacity to supply more than seven million people in the São Paulo metropolitan region and also shelters the main headwaters of rivers that supply metropolitan Campinas, a city in the interior of São Paulo State, where agricultural and industrial plants are highly dependent on water.

Community involvement in Project Sowing Water is critical to scaling up its impact. For this, the Sowing Water Project focuses on a program of environmental education, communication, and training throughout the project structure.

Yes, you can participate in the social media mini-challenges as many times as you want every week. The more posts you make using the particular mini-challenge hashtag and & #o9Walks the more trees will be planted and the more chances you will have to win.

You can post the same picture/video on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter. Each post on the different social media platforms will count as one participation in the mini-challenge and, therefore, will result in 10 more trees planted. However, likes and comments will also count individually, that is, we will not sum likes and comments from different platforms.
