o9 Solutions’ Executive Council Member Chris Tyas awarded Grocer Cup 2021 Award
LONDON, 11 October 2021 – Chris Tyas, member of the aim10x Executive Council, has been awarded the Grocer Cup for his role in the Food Resilience forum as a response to the pandemic. The prestigious award was received during the Grocer Gold Awards 2021. Previous winners of this award are Ocado Group’s CEO Tim Steiner and Tesco’s CEO Dave Lewis.
Chris Tyas was the head of the Food Resilience Industry Forum and was responsible for unifying the agri-food supply chain. The Food’s War Room was formed with the sole mission of maintaining food security within the UK during the first few months of the pandemic, amid panic buying and predictions of food shortages. Chris has played a vital role through multiple lockdowns, Brexit transition, and many more supply chain food crises that the UK has experienced in the last year and a half. For his work during these difficult times, Chris was also awarded with an Order of the British Empire earlier this year.
In February 2020, Chris Tyas joined the aim10x Executive Council, a business advisory board that combines the expertise and experience of operational leaders at some of the world’s largest enterprises. Chris Tyas said about the aim10x Executive Council: “I think it is the responsibility of those of us who’ve been in the supply chain industry and profession for a while to give back. One of those responsibilities is to feed all those years of experience and practical examples so that solutions of the future, like o9’s, actually meet the needs that the future generation of supply chain professionals have.”
Chris Tyas said: ”Personally, I’m immensely proud to have won this award, because I feel like I’m accepting this award on behalf of the supply chain and operations community. Over the last 20 months, with the pandemic, the Brexit transition, and extreme volatility in the market, the entire supply chain and operations community has shown real resilience. I’m thankful that their work has not gone unnoticed.”
Chris Tyas also mentioned the importance of technology in the future of supply chain. He said: “The expectation on us as supply chain professionals, is that we make use of the world’s resources, whether they be human, or natural resources. We look to systems providers to empower us to make the best use of those resources. What technology can do is it can enable supply chain professionals to make the very best use of their time and to make the decisions based on insights.”
